Donate Pet Supplies and Help Save Lives

A little over a year ago, my wife and I were in the search to adopt a furry four-legged friend to welcome into our new home. My in-laws had adopted from the Washington Humane Society shelter on New York Avenue a few years prior. So one Saturday morning we drove downtown and playing on the radio was Electric Light Orchestra – Don’t bring me down… Bruce. We thought nothing of it but I found myself humming that song in my head as we walked into the shelter. We walked through and there waiting in the first kennel was Bruce: a six-month-old English Mastiff wagging his tail. Was it meant to be? After a week of deciding, we called to find out if Bruce was still there, but to our disappointment Bruce had been adopted three days after we saw him. Lucky Bruce!

Bruce may not have made it into our home that day, but the experience inspired me to continue support in other ways. In an effort to help the Washington Humane Society with the supplies that they need on a daily basis like dog and cat food, kongs, blankets and toys, Delucchi Plus is holding a drive throughout April and May to collect these items at our D.C. office.

The Washington Humane Society inspires and creates a community in which all animals have secure homes and where people and animals live together with joy and compassion.

As part of the Delucchi Plus Social Responsibility Committee, I am proud to be a part of a company that gives back to our community and to be able to assist the Washington Humane Society succeed in their mission.
