Honoring Veterans Every Day At Mission BBQ

Mission BBQ: The American Way

I love Mission BBQ — and not just because it has finger-licking-good barbecue! Mission BBQ is a brand that carries its “mission” throughout everything it does. According to an article from the Washington Post, the idea behind Mission BBQ is “to serve good ol’ American barbecue while giving back to the community.” But perhaps my favorite part of about this company is its dedication to supporting injured veterans and their families — it’s truly woven through every aspect of this organization.

Mission BBQ is a perfect example of a company truly living and breathing its mission, vision and values. If you’ve ever been to a community event where Mission BBQ is catering, you will have seen its BBQ food truck Army truck. Or perhaps, you’ve visited a Mission BBQ restaurant recently and noticed the specially designated  Wounded Warrior Parking.

Every day at noon, Mission BBQ restaurants stop everything to pay their respects veterans and services members. The kitchen staff come out from behind the counters and diners are asked to stand as the National Anthem is played throughout the restaurant. If you haven’t been to a Mission BBQ at lunchtime, I strongly encourage you to stop in and check it out. By literally come to a halt during one of its busiest times of the day, Mission BBQ goes above and beyond to pay tribute to those who have and continue to serve our country. It’s goosebump-inducing:

Through community fundraisers and donations, the company supports a number of national organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project, The USO, The Honor Flight Network and The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Additionally, local restaurants support community police and fire departments and organizations.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love this brand — it makes me proud to be an American and makes me feel great about my patronage of Mission BBQ’s business. Mission BBQ doesn’t need a holiday like Veteran’s Day to honor service members and their families. They do it every day. Mission BBQ, you are “The American Way.”
