Local Motors Location Driving In To National Harbor

The Delucchi offices have been full throttle this week with the big news of Local Motors coming to National Harbor! We’re the agency of record for National Harbor, so we can’t help but share in the excitement.

Local Motors is a free online and physical work space where creativity, collaboration and design drive vehicle innovations. The company designs, builds and sells vehicles, combining co-creation and micro-manufacturing to bring hardware innovations to market quickly. This business model is relative first for the automotive industry, and it has car aficionados and tech entrepreneurs alike revved up about the future implications.

Local Motors is opening its first east coast showroom location, which will also debut the first fleet of 3-D printed cars, at National Harbor in late 2015. The 45,000 square foot Local Motors facility at National Harbor will comprise a 20,000 square foot lab (used for co-creation, research, technology, education and free community events) a 15,000 square foot showroom and retail store, and a 10,000 square foot build floor for light assembly of products and vehicles.

“Local Motors is changing the way you experience motor vehicles,” said Jay Rogers, Local Motors CEO and co-founder. “From design to build to purchase to service, our micro-factories are a central hub for engaging both online and physical communities, advancing technology, and creating a first-of-its-kind experiential retail concept.”

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Local Motors aspires to “bring badass vehicles to life.” We’re excited to what this innovative leader with cutting-edge vision will bring to the east coast. Congratulations to Peterson Companies and National Harbor!
