Meet Spring, Your Newest Online Shopping App

8.18 molly7Mobile shopping just got dangerously easier with the launch of Spring. The new app has a sleek user interface and lets users “follow” their favorite brands, shop new arrivals, browse curated collections, and – most importantly – make a purchase in three quick steps.

With an Instagram-esque look, users can follow more than 100 brands in women’s, men’s, beauty and lifestyle categories – including Rag & Bone, Everlane, Warby Parker and Oscar de la Renta. Each brand has a profile and posts new products throughout the day. The user has the luxury of swiping through their feed just like they would on Instagram… except you can buy everything. Which makes Spring ultra-appealing to big brands.

When a user hits the “like” button on blouse, pair of shoes, sunglasses, etc., they then receive push notifications letting them know if it’s low in stock or on sale. The product also goes to the users profile under “likes” so you can collect your favorite items.

According to Fast Company, “We spend 16 minutes out of every hour online visiting sites like Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram, and many of us show up specifically for shopping inspiration.” Fast Company compares the new app to the online equivalent of hanging at the mall. Except that the blouse you tried on at the mall can’t text you one week later when it’s low in stock.

To celebrate, brands have partnered with Spring to create exclusive items that are for sale only on the app. Spring also has a “Discover” section, where users can browse curated collections from their favorite style makers like Who What Wear and Cool Hunting.

Like all apps, we’ll have to wait and see if it gets the following it’s projected to. But in the meantime, let’s bask in the perfect marriage of tech and fashion and buy a new pair of sunglasses to celebrate. It just needs a verb to cement its success… Spring-ing?
