The Price of A Pair of Flip Flops: One Tweet

Who loves free merchandise? That’s easy, absolutely everybody does. Anything with the word “free” would make anyone’s head turn. Old Navy knew that and capitalized on it this year through social media to boost excitement and awareness of its annual $1 flip flop sale.

According to a recent article on Forbes.com, Old Navy is giving away 9,000 pairs of flip flops throughout the week leading up to the annual sale in vending machines across New York City and Los Angeles. The campaign “Tweet for Your Feet” allows consumers to share one of their favorite summer activities to @Old Navy and use the hashtag #flipflophooray in exchange for a free pair of flip flops in their size. At the end of the campaign, Old Navy will receive 9,000 tweets!

Consumers get to interact with Old Navy in a creative atmosphere, sharing their own personal stories that involve one of summer’s most essential products sold at Old Navy. This was a genius idea! Not only does it promote awareness about the annual $1 flip-flop sale on social media, but it also nourishes and develops a consumer’s relationship with Old Navy through a positive brand experience.
