Music lovers all over the U.S. had already been setting their Pandora Radio stations (and strategically delegating the allotted six skips per hour) for over a decade when Spotify made its debut in 2011.

Spotify is a digital music service that provides its users access to millions of songs, and despite being a bit late to the game, it has quickly evolved into one of the top contenders in the digital music world. It currently surpasses Pandora, which was launched in 2000, in paid subscribers and also provides a significantly larger music library with over 20 million songs.

For its most recent marketing endeavor, Spotify is teaming up with Uber to launch a new feature allowing Uber riders the option to select their own music for the drive. As an avid Spotify listener and Uber rider, I fully support this initiative. Additionally, BMW announced at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show that they will also be integrating Spotify into their vehicles as well.

Unfortunately for Pandora, it doesn’t look like Spotify is going anywhere anytime soon.
