Fall 2017 Internship:
Junior Content Producer
Washington, D.C. OR San Francisco, CA

You didn’t bat an eyelash when assigned a last-minute essay in school and you were on Snapchat before it was a thing. You have passages memorized from “The Elements of Style,” know more about memes than the next guy or gal and and can name five brands that killed it with “Hotline Bling” GIFs.

We’re looking for clever, concise and brand-minded interns to join our digital strategic communications and marketing agency this winter in Washington, D.C. or San Francisco, CA. The junior content producers, or interns, support the brand development and content teams, including promotion of the Streetsense brand voice, blog content creation and social media efforts; business development research, RFP reviews and competitive reviews; creative concepting, brainstorming and copy drafting; editorial calendar development, influencer identification and developing both written and visual social media content. The junior content creators are excellent researchers and writers, and have and can articulate opinions in the realms of branding, marketing and communications.

Interns will learn about and perform the following tasks:

  • Review and contribute to content and communications strategies across all agency practice groups, companies, and clients
  • Conduct research on prospective clients for new business proposals
  • Audit and analyze competitor websites, social media channels and brand messaging for new and prospective clients
  • Form and articulate recommendations for clients to improve brand messaging, website content, and social media content
  • Keep up with and report on industry trends in branding, messaging, and social media
  • Write optimized metadescriptions and copy for  client websites
  • Create content for agency and client social media channels, blogs, and email marketing campaigns
  • Participate in idea brainstorming for current clients and new business proposals
  • Contribute to the company blog by posting drafts — with an articulate opinion about current events in the world of brand marketing — writing weekly roundups, etc.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Love to write and can do so quickly, concisely and in large volumes
  • Take pride in their work but welcome feedback
  • Are capable researchers and gifted writers
  • Have and can articulate opinions in the realm of brands, messaging, and digital marketing
  • Regularly use Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat and are familiar with platform posting best practices. Knowledge of and experience with Facebook Business Manager a plus!
  • Are proactive and take initiative, whether in asking questions, soliciting feedback or making suggestions
  • Think two steps ahead and anticipate the next needs of a project
  • Are prepared to produce “client ready” work and understand the importance of proofreading and research
  • Take ownership over tasks and deadlines

Requirements + Compensation

  • Recent graduates with a degree in journalism, writing, or English; capabilities in design, photography, videography and knowledge of social media platforms a plus
  • Keen ability to quickly create large volumes of clever and thoughtful content
  • Full-time availability (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.)
  • Paid hourly compensation
