Dear Future Interns…

5.26

There is only so much you can learn in a college classroom that will prepare you for the workforce. Delucchi Plus understands this value and offers its internship program year round to help college students or recent grads explore the agency world. During my time interning with this agency, I have learned and grown professionally in ways that I wouldn’t have been able to with just my college education. To reflect on this rich experience, here’s a letter I would write to anyone considering interning with this agency.

Dear future intern,

What you should expect is that from the very beginning you’ll be treated like part of the team, your opinion will matter and you’ll be trusted with client work. The team provides great support and structure to make the onboarding and debriefing process easily digestible. You’ll be well equipped for any task ahead so you will dive right in. You’ll tackle an array of project, sometimes all at once, that will create a truly valuable experience. Out of all the parts included in the internship program, the following are the three that I found to be the most valuable experiences:

“LUNCH + LEARN” SERIES. This is an opportunity to sit down over lunch with two of three people from different departments and discover what they do on a daily basis. You get to understand the agency and how it works as a whole, instead of what only happens in your corner of the office. It enhanced my internship experience in that I was able to get to know other people in the office.

PROJECT VARIETIES. You’ll be exposed to different departments and touch projects from a wide range of industries. Often you’ll find yourself working on tasks that are unrelated to your initial job responsibilities. I’ve been fortunate to be an integral part in numerous projects across various industries from beauty, health, real estate, food and beverage, travel and tourism and nonprofit. It’s this breadth of involvement that allows you to explore other areas of the agency and discover new talents and interests you weren’t aware of previously.

TEAM MEETINGS. While seemingly mundane part of the job, meetings — whether creative team, content team, or client meetings — give a great insight into how the agency collaborates together. It’s a collective effort to produce client work that exceeds the standards and showcases our capabilities. I found them to be a prime example of how this team really works — as a team to make decisions.

Internships are a unique experience that allows young professionals to explore a job at a particular company. Just like with anything in life, the more effort you put in, the more you get out. If you want to learn what it’s like to work at a dynamic, digital agency then don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn and grow professionally. Reach out and say hi!

Love,

Emily

P.S. Bring a sweater (the office gets chilly) and a positive attitude

P.P.S. The Wi-Fi and cell reception isn’t the best, so use an Ethernet cord and landline.
