Midsummer Playlist: Intern Edition

Summer isn’t summer without a poppy song or two vibrating rampantly through our radios and minds. You might embrace them (ask any of my friends about my obsession with last year’s Chandelier) or the poppy top 40 hits may get under your skin. Nevertheless, every year there are a few songs that, no matter how hard we may push back, unavoidably define our summer to a degree.

While my June and July have felt a little bit less summery being in an office environment for the first time, I’ve tried to find ways to bring the summer indoors. So, to cope with an admittedly tough transition from past year’s schedules of traveling and laying poolside to this year’s agenda of sitting in a freezing (but lovely!) office, I’ve embraced a summer playlist of my own. A mix which, don’t worry, contains some of that wonderful top 40 you can’t get out of your head.

So, without further adieu, here is a snippet of the soundtrack to my summer of agency life. A short playlist that is helping to ease some of the FOMO I feel every time I see a picture of someone else’s toes in the sand. Disclaimer: it’s a rather eclectic mix and neither Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen nor Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again made my cut. Enjoy!
And if you’re interested in an extensive list of summer jams well beyond my picks, NPR has compiled every No.1 summer hit dating all the way back to 1962.
