Twitter unveils custom timelines: This month, Twitter released a new feature that allows users to create custom timelines to embed on their websites. Users like @CarsonDaly and @PoliticoPro are already creating custom timelines to showcase their favorite tweets around any given subject. Here’s one we made for our work with #ArtYardsDC:

Snapchat declines $3 billion offer from Facebook: Word on the street is that Facebook’s offer of $3B to buy Snapchat (3x Instagram’s $1B price tag) was declined by Evan Spiegel, Snapchat’s CEO. All rumors aside, Business Insider takes a look at how Snapchat plans to make money. Chances are, this was an attempt by Facebook to salvage their irrelevance with the US teen market.

Facebook improves post scheduling: Scheduling on Facebook is easier this week as Facebook upgraded the schedule function to show a calendar instead of a list of dates for scheduling posts. Also part of the upgrade: notifications that x number of posts are scheduled are now visible at the top of a page’s admin panel.

Google+ and YouTube gain page admins: Google+ and YouTube became much friendlier to the social media/community manager crowd at the end of October when they added the ability to appoint “Communications managers” for G+ pages and YouTube channels.

Just for fun: Last week Volvo Trucks unleashed this video on YouTube. It already has 40,000,000 views, dozens of parodies and epitomizes the essence of a viral video: simply random.
