How We Combined Puppies and Peak Blooms to Land a Morning Talk Show

Delucchi Puppies

Sometimes a day in the office means a day at the Tidal Basin with fashionably paw-some puppies. Or at least, at Delucchi Plus it does. Last week, the PR team headed to the Tidal Basin to help coordinate the filming of a segment on Great Day Washington for our clients, the Washington Humane Society. Not only was last Wednesday, March 23rd National Puppy Day but it was also Peak Bloom Day for the Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C. We were promoting WHS’s Fashion for Paws 10th Annual Runway Show with a puppy fashion show.

Here were some Key PR Takeaways from our segment

Work With What You’ve Got– Be it a new real estate development, a delicious cookie or an adorable new puppy, it is important to always use your “assets” to your advantage. This time, it meant working with our awesome clients, the Washington Humane Society to help support animal welfare. When your “assets” are pups in the latest K9 Couture and the hottest D.C. Fashion Show, it is easy to get dog-deep in creative ideas.

Timing is Everything– When pitching a PR story for our clients it is always key to plan your pitches around local holidays and happenings. For us, Peak Bloom and National Puppy day were the perfect combo for a morning news segment.

Go With It– Sometimes things might not go according to plan, puppies get tired, weather changes and D.C. traffic gets CRAZY, but it is important to always roll with the punches and put on a good show!
