Drinking The Company Kool-Aid

8.1

Google “Company Culture” and you get more than 500 million search results.  While I have no insider insight into this, it’s reasonable to assume that it’s a pretty hot topic to warrant so many search results. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find scores of articles such as “12 Steps to Better Company Culture” or my personal favorite “How to Make Your Company Not Suck.”  We’re even getting in on the game ourselves, as our Chief Creative Officer recently spoke to importance of building great company culture with our upcoming staff meeting.

But even among the barrage of “How Tos” and the “Do and Don’ts” of creating company culture, it’s hard to get to the crux of what culture actually is. The concept is intangible and a bit complex but essentially, culture is the collision of people and their context, how they interact in that context. Let’s break that down a bit.

Ever heard the saying “fish can’t see water?” The same goes for culture. We can’t see it, but we sure as heck can feel it. The energy at Delucchi Plus is undeniably electric and you feel it the moment you step into the office. Everything from the white-boarding sessions that birth the strategy behind our most innovative campaigns, to the mayhem that comes with a company-wide social media contest, and yes, even the “accidental” all staff Skype chat, creates an amazing social fabric that makes you say, “I want in.”

While I’ll spare you from the inevitable gushing that comes with describing my own Delucchi Plus experience, I managed to coerce my coworkers into sharing their own reasons for drinking the “company Kool-Aid” and why the Delucchi culture keeps us coming back:

“Undoubtedly, though, the best part about Delucchi Plus is the passion that our coworkers bring to work with them every day.  It sounds trite, but it’s true. All around me I see people working to ‘plus the work.’  It’s inspiring.  The knowledge, passion, and abundant competence I’m surrounded by is unparalleled.” – Jonathan Brinksman, Senior Search Marketing Specialist

“The people here truly care about you and what is going on in your life.” – Susanna James, Graphic Designer

“Nothing beats our work happy hours!” – Christy Stillwell, Account Manager

“There’s so much passion and camaraderie. People are excited about their work (even when the going gets rough) and we genuinely like being around one another. A lot of companies will throw a bean bag chair and ping-pong table in the corner and be like “oh we’re cool now,’ but our kind of positive energy can’t be faked. It has to be organic, and Delucchi Plus has that kind of magic.” – Ali Kehoe, Copywriter

“The GIFs… I’m all about the GIFS.” – Molly Hippolitus, Senior Account Manager

Cheers to that!
