#Gimme5 Inspires Healthy Action

Last week, our Chief Creative Officer Tom  attended the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) Summit on behalf of our client higi. During the conference the First Lady delivered a keynote that spoke to the accomplishments that have happened over the past five years with the Let’s Move initiative, and touched on the viral campaign they have launched, #GimmeFive, where the public is tasked with coming up with five ways to lead a healthier life. Being inspired by what is going on in the health space, I dabbled with my thoughts on the topic:

  1. Get a better sleep routine. It seems like common sense that you are your best self after a good nights sleep, but the power of sleep is even more important than that. Sleep has such an impact on productivity, mood, creativity and your overall health that I have made it a point to get into bed early, turn off the electronics and engage in an occasional nap.
  2. Check my weight and vitals once per month. Higi is a really great tool for me, it’s in my local grocery store and allows me to track my weight, pulse, blood pressure and BMI over time. While I definitely consider myself an overall healthy person, these metrics are great tools to keep on track.
  3. Log my nutritional intake through tools like Weight Watchers or Rise, where I can get one-on-one nutritional coaching by experts. Once you start tracking daily it’s shocking to see what you are actually putting into your body, and these tools suggest alternative foods to combat hunger.
  4. For me, to make exercise fun I need an amazing workout outfit. Recently I’ve become obsessed with fabletics, who on a monthly basis provides you with some suggested options based on a lifestyle quiz you fill out to start your VIP experience. If you need that extra motivation and haven’t checked them out yet, I would definitely spend fifteen minutes of your day browsing.
  5. Add lemon to everything. One lemon has more than 100% of your daily intake of Vitamin C and citrus flavonoids may help inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Right now, I’m a huge fan of BluePrint’s lemon cayenne agave juice. It’s so easy to just grab and go!

So those are my five new healthy habits in my daily routine, so now can you #GimmeFive? And if you need extra motivation to participate, here’s Beyonce.
