Social Media + Shopping Addicts Rejoice: #AmazonCart has Arrived

5.9

Amazon and Twitter partnered this week to roll out a new feature that lets you shop from your timeline.

No more typing passwords (hello fat fingers), switching apps (who has time for that?) or trying to remember items you saw on Twitter (because I can barely recall what I had for breakfast this morning).

Under pressure to monetize its social network activity, Twitter has found a “seamless way” to support e-commerce on the platform while Amazon becomes the sole bread-winner for such transactions—for now.

So how does it work?

  1. Sync your Twitter and Amazon accounts.
  2. Reply to a tweet that has an Amazon product link and add the hashtag #AmazonCart.
  3. BOOM! Item is now in your Amazon cart.

Impulse shoppers fear not, the service doesn’t allow users perform one-click purchases – the jury’s still out on whether this is a good or bad thing.

However, if your Twitter account is public; the entire world can see what you’re buying.

Take that as you will.
